Network Upgrade: Gradual Phase-Out of 3G from February 2026

As part of our ongoing service upgrades, we are gradually deactivating the 3G network across Cyprus. The process will begin in February 2026 and is expected to be completed in early summer.

Why is 3G being phased out?

3G was the technology that first gave us access to the internet in the 2000s (for simple uses such as email and surfing). However, due to the rapid developments of technology, it can no longer support today's needs for high speeds and modern internet use.

Your communication is now served by 4G and 5G networks, which offer higher internet speeds and upgraded voice quality through VoLTE technology.

The benefit for you

The spectrum freed up by the discontinuation of 3G will be used to further strengthen and expand next-generation networks (4G and 5G). This means:

• faster speeds
• better network response
• an overall upgraded experience for all our customers.

What about calls and SMS?

The discontinuation of 3G does not affect voice and SMS services. These will continue to be provided as normal:

1. via the 4G network (if your device supports VoLTE) with 99.55% geographic coverage.
2. via the 2G network (for all other devices) with 99.28% geographical coverage and 99.75% population coverage.

How to Ensure the Best Experience

To continue enjoying fast Internet access and high voice quality, make sure your device supports 4G and VoLTE:

1. Check your device and activate VoLTE technology, which is necessary for calls via 4G.

2. Devices that only support 3G/2G:

Note: Your services will continue to be supported via the 2G network for basic calls and SMS, but internet access will be limited.
